Pepsi IPL 2014 Starts Tomorrow
In what could be cracking season for cricket lovers, Pepsi IPL 2014 will start tomorrow in UAE. First match will be played between between the defending champions, Mumbai Indians and the 2012 IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders. A total of 20 matches will be played in three stadiums: the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi; the Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium, Sharjah; and the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.

The biggest names in world cricket went under the hammer on 12 and 13 February 2014, at the 2014 Pepsi IPL Player Auction, held at the ITC Gardenia, Bengaluru. All-time greats like Jacques Kallis, Mahela Jayawardene, Virender Sehwag, Kevin Pietersen and Yuvraj Singh were in fray as will young talents like Quinton de Kock and Corey Anderson.
This was the first time that uncapped Indian players will be part of the auction. The 514-strong list featured 219 capped players (169 Indians and 50 overseas players) and 292 uncapped players (255 Indians and 37 overseas players). There were also three players from Associate nations, namely Niall and Kevin O’Brien from Ireland and Ryan Ten Doeschate from Netherlands.
The ticket sales speak for themselves, BCCI reported. The 100,000th ticket was sold on 8th April, a mere six days since online sales commenced. 12,500 tickets were purchased 7th April – on the first day of the box-office and outlet sales.
